Highest Population Densities By US Metropolitan Areas
Population density is an interesting criterion to examine. The US has some disparate cities declining in numbers, while others are experiencing significant population increases. A few cities actually top the chart of the most crowded urban areas in the US and the reasons for this demographic phenomenon are multiple.
Hawai‘i’s 2020 Vision
Reviewing Hawai‘i’s demographic growth trends from 1980 to 2035, it is apparent that the overall population of Hawai‘i is expected to grow by 65 percent.2 Those 60 years of age and older will increase 310% and those over 85 and older are expected to experience a hyper-growth rate of 1,158% during this same 55 year period.
TOD Neighborhood Plans
The Department of Planning and Permitting began the planning process for the Waipahu Neighborhood TOD Plan in 2007 and has since engaged in community planning for the stations in East Kapolei, Aiea-Pearl City, the Halawa area, the Airport area, Kalihi, Downtown, and Ala Moana. The two station areas within Kakaʻako are under HCDA jurisdiction; however, the City has begun planning for the future of the Neal S. Blaisdell Center site, located near the Kakaʻako station.
Google’s Driverless Cars
